Eligibility notes for foreign nationals
Citizens of most countries can apply online for an Indian e-Visa before travel. Some nationalities, and purposes like employment or study, need a regular visa from an Indian mission abroad. Indian-origin travellers may be eligible for OCI instead.
- Passport valid for at least 6 months from the date of arrival, with at least 2 blank pages.
- Apply online at least 4 days before arrival; e-Visas are only valid at designated airports and seaports.
- e-Visa is not available to every nationality, or for work, study or journalism — we'll confirm the right route for you.
- Foreign spouses and children of Indian citizens or OCI cardholders may have extra options — ask us.

Who can apply for an Indian e-Visa?
Citizens of most countries can apply online. A few nationalities, and some purposes such as employment, study or journalism, need a regular visa from an Indian embassy or consulate. Tell us your nationality and we'll confirm.
How early should I apply for an India e-Visa?
Apply at least 4 days before arrival. You can apply well in advance — we recommend 2–4 weeks ahead in peak season.
Can I apply for a family member abroad who wants to visit me in India?
Yes. Many of our customers in India arrange visas for foreign spouses, in-laws and friends visiting them. Share their passport details and we handle the rest.
I'm of Indian origin with a foreign passport. Do I need a visa?
If you hold an OCI card, you don't need a visa to visit India. Otherwise, you'll need an e-Visa or regular visa — and you may be eligible to apply for OCI. We can guide you on both.
